but I didn’t honestly expect it to be.This mezuzah is very attractive. The appearance is a darkened bronze, like a brushed bronze. The lettering is easy to read (although I confess I cannot report whether the Hebrew characters are appropriately engraved). My only misgiving is that this mezuzah is not fully enclosed. This mezuzah consists of the metal cover with the lettering and that piece is quite attractive. Large enough and just the right color to be present, as you would want, but not ostentatious or loud. However, the scroll is covered by the metal piece and then held in place by a thin piece of clear plastic which gets sandwiched between the metal piece and the doorpost. Screw tightly and the plastic piece forms a gasket or seal that protects the scroll from the elements. The scroll that comes with this mezuzah, as I’ve mentioned, isn’t handwritten and is therefore technically invalid but it does a good show of looking authentic. The scroll is tightly rolled to fit between the plastic gasket and the metal cover. And the scroll is held tightly rolled by a rustic looking piece of jute (natural string).I would have preferred shorter screws (these are a bit more than an inch long and just unnecessarily long). And I’m concerned that the screw heads aren’t very strong and will be easily stripped. That is a major concern. Consider using other screws.Apart from that, this is a terrific little mezuzah – oh, one last word. You see the photo of the mezuzah above a white doorknob? The photo with the woman’s long hair? This mezuzah is nothing like that. Not sure why that photo is even there. (I won’t comment on the woman or the fact that a mezuzah is not placed on a door.) Instead I will only point out that if the mezuzah pictured there is this mezuzah, then that doorknob is about the size of the knob that opens your medicine cabinet. Understand? [...]
